Finding Routine in Unroutine Times

How I feel after 8 hours of online classes and a month of quarantine!

As we settle into the reality of a long quarantine, it has become apparent to me that I am going to have to be even more vigilant with my daily routines in order to keep my sanity and health. The reality of sitting in front of a computer screen all day long hit me hard after last week! I became “lost at sea” and time began to morph into one indistinct reality.

What day is it? What time is it? What month is it? Why have I only taken 500 steps all day long? …So many questions!

So, I woke up this morning and made myself a schedule. This is my work schedule (weekends are always unscheduled for me; I still need spontaneity). For the most part, it schedules regular movement and breaks from the digital world, which was becoming overwhelming for me. The schedule indicates mostly the breaks, but the times in-between are “work” hours.

8:00 AM – wake up/coffee/Qi Gong routine

9:00 – start online classes

10:00 – 15 minute walk outside

11:00 – 15 minute walk outside

12:00 – 1:00 PM – lunch break

2:00 – 15 minute walk outside

3:00 – 15 minute walk outside

4:00 – End work/ Tai Chi Form

4:30 – 5:30 – shower/shave/etc.

5:30 – 8:00 – cook/eat dinner

8:00 – 11:00 – relax/draw/read/etc.
